In Paekākāriki, step into the lovingly restored Holtom – one of the regions most beautiful historic buildings. Cosy up inside and watch the bakers work their magic, or absorb the relaxed local environment from our outdoor seating. If you’re lucky, you might even see one of the iconic heritage Steam Trains go by.

Give their taste buds a treat. Our vouchers are the perfect way to say thank you. Pick which store you’d like one for and that special someone can feast on all the beautiful things we make each day. Fresh bread, coffee, pies, pastries, sammies and sweets – there’s something for everyone. Our vouchers never expire and can easily be purchased online or in either of our bakeries.
We were focussed originally on french pastries, but we’ve settled into a sweet spot somewhere between European delicacies and Kiwi classics so that there’s something for everyone.
We craft various versions of cakes, croissants, sandwiches, scones, donuts, pies, and bread, often inspired by fruit and vegetables from the collective garden, or beer and grains from the brewery.

It started with a scone, a favourite in the early days at Long Beach. The community wanted so many of them we had to build a bakery. Fortunately another neglected neighborhood corner, a scone’s throw from Long Beach and it’s very useful garden, needed love.
Today the corner in Waikanae hums with activity. We even needed more space! So we opened our new shop in the heart of Paekākāriki. From 3am to midnight we bake, seven days a week.
Olde Beach is now an iconic destination. We hope it helps to open more eyes to the craftspeople of Waikanae.

Joy is the most important ingredient in our bakery. You can hear it in the voices singing along to the radio and see it in our synchronicity. Our intricate choreographed dance inside a shoebox carrying piping hot pies is a sight to behold. It’s tight in there but we like it that way. It brings people together, to rub shoulders, engage, share, and connect. From five year olds to 105, locals, holidaymakers, coasties, Wellingtonians - Olde Beach unites and delights us all.
