There’s nothing like Long Beach on a summer’s day. The click clack of happy jandals. 

The smell of sun on salty skin. Sunblock and beach towels scattered about. Family chatter across long outdoor tables, sharing pizza. The coffee and pastry crowd nestled in a nearby corner. The garden alive with picture takers, nibbling things at the gardener’s request. Then a seamless shift into long evenings under west coast sunsets, enjoying the latest from our brewery. Sampling exotic goodies from a world-class wine list. Perched upon heated outdoor seats feeling nourished and delighted, listening to the birds in the neighbouring park recapping the day.

Longbeach is truly a special place. And it’s where it all began for the collective. We grew up in this neighbourhood and a feeling lingered that the best was yet to come for this public corner at the heart of Waikanae Beach.

When the time was right, and we’d completed our culinary educations in places far flung, we converged on the corner. It’s potential was suddenly obvious. To be a meeting place for a community. To be a celebration of our local environment and the produce it delivers. A nurturing home for local talent and the platform for our quest to prove the highest levels of hospitality can be achieved anywhere. In fact your hometown, where the essence of the place is in your bones, is the best place to do it.

Longbeach today is the wildly popular result of vision, perseverance and love for people, produce, and place. A vision that is always evolving. For the latest idea hatching, ask one of the founders. You’ll often find them tending the bar on a Friday night. They don’t want to miss out on the fun.
